Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Have basic math skills

  • Have previous press experience with water/solvent-based inks

  • Good organizational skills

  • Work overtime as needed

ProAmpac Ink Technician Responsibilities

  • Make press ready inks for all three shifts according to Printing press schedules and place in designated area

  • Perform color and density checks on press at beginning of each work order and on every printed roll throughout run

  • Print out and file X-Rite spectrometer results with each retain

  • File and keep retains from every printed roll

  • Work with Supervisors to develop Master Setup sheets for printed orders of 3 or more colors

  • Perform pH meter and Zahn cup calibrations and inspections according to ISO requirements

  • Perform daily cleanup according to SQF standards

  • Perform end of month / year inventory

  • Control ink inventory levels on daily basis

  • Generate C.O.A.’s and turn in to ProAmpac supervision

  • Data entry into Novaflow control system (Ink returns, work off, new drums, etc.)

  • Develop and maintain ink color standards or special colors according to PMS book

  • Perform ink training for ProAmpac employees

  • Sends SDS’ on new inks and additives

  • Assist Press Operators on press color checks and retain filing

  • Assist in calibrating ink testing equipment

  • Looking over daily press schedules to determine ink usage and needs

  • Perform rollouts / draw-downs as requested by Art Department or CSR’s

  • Maintain color standards

  • Develop special color codes for custom color orders

  • Maintain work off program

  • Perform rub, crinkle, and other ink quality tests when required and developing procedures for such

  • Perform needed P.M. on the Novaflow ink system

  • Perform ink returns

  • Perform procedure for empty drums on storage truck

  • Operate ink re-claim system/water treatment system

  • Keep lab and dispensing area clean

  • Manages, Maintains and monitors the waste water treatment process
