The EI Technician is responsible for safely maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, installing, and improving electronic and instrumentation equipment in support of reliable paper mill operations. The technician efficiently repairs, of if necessary, replaces plan equipment to permit the plant to operate on a continuous basis. The EI Technician also installs, services, tests, and calibrates electrical systems and various other electronic equipment. This responsibility is met by understanding and adhering to standard E&I procedures and techniques.
Install and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) using skills to troubleshoot with communication software.
Perform Electrical and PLC tasks including but not limited to the following: Calibrating, monitoring, repairing, and maintaining transmitters, controllers, plant safety systems, power systems and sensors.
Maintain equipment by way of planned preventive maintenance programs, keeping maintenance records per company policies as well as advanced troubleshooting of electrical/electronic equipment during shift.
Provide electrical and instrumentation support to the functional area to ensure production can continue in a safe and effective manner.
Install, calibrate, maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical instrumentation, equipment and associated electrical/electronic controls and related devices for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
Install, visually examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, transformers, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components.
Must possess strong mechanical skills with working knowledge of PLC’s, variable speed drives, and strong math skills. Must work well with others, possess strong communication skills, computer, and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
Preferred Education and Qualifications:
Minimum H.S. diploma or GED
Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent combination of work experience and technical training.
Associates Degree from a technical school is desirable.
Electrical License is required
ARC Flash certification is desirable
Experience in 3 phase/480 volt electrical systems
Basic skills from several of the major standard industrial I&E skills including electrical AC/DC voltage, PLC, pneumatic control valves and systems, basic electronics, motor control systems and process control systems.
