Position Summary

This position is responsible to meet the goals and objectives of the organization by recommending and implementing safety-related programs to promote employee health and safety or environmental compliance and policies to prevent injuries, fires, or other workplace accidents.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Pioneer the Safety culture by acting as an ambassador for Health, Safety, and Environmental programs and in alignment with ProAmpac’s values of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, Involvement, and Impact

  • Promote and monitor a healthy and safe work environment by leading workplace regulations, policies, initiatives

  • Lead the Safety Committee on-site

  • Accountable for educating and informing staff on environmental, health, and safety standards, best practices, or procedures.

  • Inspects the workplace and identifies and addresses potential safety hazards.

  • Creates and delivers safety training programs educating employees on safe working practices, appropriate equipment operation, and emergency procedures.

  • Ensures training records, health/safety manuals or handbooks, incident/accident reports, or other documentation are appropriately maintained and makes recommendations for improvements.

  • Prepares and submits accident reports in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Monitors known health, safety, or environmental hazards , such as noise, air, or wastewater pollution levels.

  • Coordinate inspection of facilities, vehicles, or equipment.

  • May develop and communicate facility-specific emergency response or evacuation plans .

Work Environment

Work primarily in a climate controlled indoor environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Hearing protection, safety shoes, vision and other protection required when in manufacturing areas.

This role operates in a professional office environment that requires some exposure to a manufacturing environment. Employee is rarely exposed to non-toxic/nuisance smells from chemicals, airborne dust, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels and hot/humid environmental conditions in the manufacturing areas.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Requirements

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred and 2-4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience strongly preferred.

  • Certifications strongly preferred – Certified Safety Professional or Industrial Safety Specialist or Environmental Safety Specialist

  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

  • Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter.

  • May provide coaching and/or mentoring.

  • Solid working knowledge of safety process and related manufacturing.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Visio, Teams and Outlook.

  • Maintains strict confidentiality and protects privacy of confidential/sensitive information.

  • Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients.

  • Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.
