Position Overview

Plans, directs and controls the efforts of the Maintenance Department to maintain plant equipment and tooling and to commensurate with good engineering practices. The scope of this role includes direct responsibility for the Franklin Park Plant.

Working Hours: 7am-3:30pm and on-call as needed, on-site

Salary range: $95,000-105,000

Position Summary

Plans, directs and controls the efforts of the Maintenance Department to maintain plant equipment and tooling and to commensurate with good engineering practices. Oversees facilities and responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems. The scope of this role includes direct responsibility for the Rochester Plant.

Essential Duties and Tasks

  • Provides direction to the Maintenance Team

  • Coordinates repairs and resolves building issues.

  • Work directly with HR to resolve departmental issues.

  • Manages time cards and time off approvals

  • Provide positive role model to subordinates.

  • Coordinate system repairs with outside contractors.

  • Develops and maintains departmental KPI’s.

  • Maintains a Maintenance department project spreadsheet. Reviews with Senior Management on a weekly basis.

  • Is the first point of contact for all maintenance and facility requests

  • Manages the work requests through the FIXX system

  • Develops, maintains, and administers an organization qualified to maintain all equipment in a safe and efficient working condition.

  • Report food safety concerns

  • Maintain work area per food safety requirements.

  • Food Safety – maintain a focus on food safety at all times, as outlined in our GMP policy under the guidance of SQF requirements.

  • Recommends continuous improvement activities to Senior Management for approval.

  • Consults with other departments regarding desirable modifications of existing equipment and the possible replacement of existing equipment which will improve operations and reduce maintenance costs.

  • Develops objectives and standards of performance for projects within the Maintenance Department required to meet departmental and corporate goals and objectives.

  • Conducts market research to stay aware of industry trends and standards and informs on streamlining maintenance processes

  • Collaborates with leadership team

  • Champions safety culture and supports the EHS team

  • Manage Fiix System

  • Required to perform maintenance duties and or support of manufacturing as needed

  • Maintain LOTO (Lock out Tag Out) system on existing and new equipment.

  • New Machine/ equipment validation.

  • Comply with all company policies, and all quality, environmental, health and safety policies and procedures as well as any regulatory or statutory requirements related to the position.

  • Attend the daily production meeting. Communicates appropriately to ensure the Operations team is aware of maintenance activities.

Work Environment

Work primarily in a manufacturing environment with safety/health hazard potential. Hearing protection, safety shoes and vision protection required.

This role operates in a manufacturing environment. Employee is exposed to non-toxic/nuisance smells from chemicals, airborne dust, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels and hot/humid environmental conditions in the manufacturing area during extremely hot summer months.

Use hands to handle tools or controls, stand or walk for long periods of time, bend or twist their body, kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl. Additionally, use of hands and fingers to grasp, move or assemble very small objects, holding the arm and hand in one position, see details of objects that are less than a few feet away, lift/push/pull/carry heavy objects. Must be able to push, pull and move equipment and/or supplies in excess of 50 pounds.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing maintenance role,

  • 2-5 years of management experience, ideally in manufacturing,

  • Or an equivalent combination of experience including background with ink/press machine operation and leadership positions.

  • Proven ability to build teams and communicate effectively to build a strong culture of involvement and impact

  • Working knowledge in manufacturing and experience with machine repair

  • Confident understanding of repair diagnostics

  • Knowledge in building codes and safety regulations is preferred but not required.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Visio, and Outlook email and calendar capabilities.

  • Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines

  • Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.
