Essential Duties and Tasks

  • Lead the design, identification & assessment of new materials/technology, and be proactive in filing intellectual property protection when possible.

  • Ensure product development activities align with existing manufacturing capabilities, industry trends, and customer requirements; when necessary, lead the justification of capital acquisition to support product development strategies.

  • Understand, communicate, and define actions to enhance product portfolio profitability (product simplification, product development, process improvement)

  • Manage product development projects ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget to optimize use of resources within the organization. Leading a team to design, control, and analyze new products and changes to current products caused by materials, processes, and/or procedures; documenting and publishing as required.

  • Work closely with production teams, engineering, sales, customers, and material sourcing, to support product innovation, cost reduction initiatives, and reduction of customer complaints.

  • Support marketing leadership with new product development project justification and launch process by collaborating with marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, marketing communications, and leadership to drive externally focused innovation.

  • Maintain product quality standards by overseeing testing and ensuring products meet regulatory requirements, working with quality and EHS teams to maintain compliance with global regulations.

  • Lead, direct, develop, and manage a team, setting priorities, goals, and performance metrics.

  • Create and maintain necessary documentation, including product specifications, project plans, and reporting of activities.

  • Ongoing technical engagement with our current and potential customers to increase collaboration efforts improving customer collaboration, success, sales, and engagement.

  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

The role requires on-site presence in Granite City, IL. Relocation support will be provided for qualified candidates.

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • BS required; Master's or Above preferred

  • Certifications preferred/a plus include Education or experience in Chemical Engineering preferred/a plus, Professional Engineer (PE) License, Certified Chemical Engineer (CChE)

  • 6-8 years’ experience in a related field

  • Proven experience in a managerial capacity.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Visio, Outlook email, and calendar.

  • Maintains strict confidentiality and protects privacy of confidential/sensitive information.

  • Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients.

  • Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision-making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.

  • Self-confident, self-motivated polished professional who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
