Job Description


The Graphics Coordinator reports directly to the Chicagoland Operations Planning Manager. The Graphics Coordinator’s primary function is to enter new art projects and coordinate with all of the primary stakeholders to ensure that all planning, design, implementation and execution phases are completed in time to meet customer requests. This role will also be responsible for validating and verifying the accuracy of art information entry into several ERP systems to ensure traceability and process flow. This role will interface with all levels of production, customer service, operations planning, sales and technical/product development.

• Create designs for multiple projects and brands (our brands as well as our customers brands)

• Participation in brand or category innovation and ideation sessions

• Attend Prepro meetings and collect data about upcoming jobs

• Manage vendor prepress/engrave projects and flexographic trials

• Create and submit cylinder quotes (retail)

• Assign cylinder numbers.

• Request Ink Drawdowns if needed

• Order bases and/or have existing bases sent to engraver, if needed

• Create Purchase Orders for engraving and bases

• Track engraving status and provide ETA for completion

• Create PoP & PoW with artwork for engineering

• Manage cylinder De/Re, remake, and repair

• Update all print PoP’s and verify accuracy of information

• Manage obsolete cylinder and flexographic inventory levels

• Coordinate and process art orders and instruction to sourced supplier of production art files and PDF proofs for new and revised designs

• Comprehend, train and learn the variables in specifications used for production of art files to print medical, food and pet food items

• Accuracy is essential in checking and proof-reading instructions to information or instructions as received from customers, C/S and art orders

• Working knowledge in applying required print specifications, trap weights, mitered edges on traps, font knowledge, layering colors in files for production

• Complete projects from milestone to milestone and ensure quality deliverables

• Coordinate, schedule, and arrange services with external vendors

• Effectively communicate and present work to clients

• Day-to-day compliance with quality, food safety and prerequisite programs

• Report food safety concerns

• All other duties as assigned


• Comply with all ProAmpac Safety, Quality, Operational and Employment policies and practices

• Receives art files and orders from customers or internal Customer Service Department

• Coordinate with production on accuracy of print instructions and SOC’s

• Update print POP’s

• Creates graphics department job orders for flexographic and Rotogravure printing processes; includes writing up specific instructions Esko’s Automation Engine Pilot, as well as, communicating art information with ink, plate mounting, press, customer service, and rewinding departments

• Proofreads generated proofs and/or files for accuracy of content and layout

• Builds relationships with customers and provides them with proofs, PDFs, ink drawdowns, etc. for their approval as required

• Keeps organized files of all customer art files, samples, paperwork, ink requests and other correspondence

• Coordinates orders from initial receipt of art files and orders through the final plate-making process

• Demonstrates appropriate attitude in all dealings with coworkers, customers, and suppliers

• A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working in graphic design

• Previous experience in Rotogravure and Flexographic printing preferred

• Computer Literacy (Word, Excel and Power Point)

• Adobe Illustrator, Esko, Photoshop literacy required

• Undergraduate degree in Graphic Design, Communication, or Marketing is preferred, but not required

• An ability to work with all levels of employees

• Sound written and oral communications
