Looking for qualified candidates who have prior manufacturing and/or experience working as an extruder operator. ( 12 hour shift).
- Operating Blown Film Extruders which includes understanding how the resin structure works, how to run extruders and prepare for both change overs and cleaning of the dies.
General Position Description:
The Extrusion Line Operator controls and monitors the film production of his or her designated line(s). Oversees the quality, house-keeping, and safety of the designated extrusion line(s). Maintains clear communication with all Plant Department in an effort to produce quality base film.

Essential Functions of the Job :
Set and maintain gram weights/film gauge and film dimensions within specified QA guidelines.
Fills out appropriate processing conditions paperwork at the beginning of each shift.
Verifies current production blend is consistent with the control blend.
Monitors film treatment; opacities, surface defects, edge weave, and ensures smooth slitted edges on film rolls.
Records and monitors gauge profiles across the entire film web.
Ensures film rolls are consistently wound within specific roll hardness/variance tolerances.
Accurately fills out appropriate production/downtime paperwork.
Promptly prepares clean film samples for additional QA testing procedures during specified time intervals.
Monitors and maintains raw material levels such that blenders and ultimately the extruders don't run out of the necessary materials.
Performs routine maintenance on extrusion systems for his or her designated lines.
Performs roll changes including preparing cores and timing out winder cut-overs.
Prepares for and performs line changeovers efficiently while minimizing film scrap and/or raw material waste.
May be assigned other duties plant wide as time allows.
Work effectively with neighboring plant departments in a team environment to develop multi-functional solutions.
Maintain good house-keeping practices throughout the Extrusion department, particularly the operator's designated lines.
Perform job duties accurately so that other personnel and departments, and ultimately customers, receive correct information and/or product.
Adhere to ProAmpac safety policies and production procedures as included in the employee handbook to ensure safety for self and fellow employees and to ensure behavior is appropriate in the workplace.
Follow all applicable instructions relative to food safety and the SQF Food Safety Management System, including Employee GMP's.
Report food safety problems to personnel with the authority to initiate actions.
Must be able to work 12 hour shifts, with overtime as needed.
