Understands how to read the docket at the start of the shift and start of every job including special instructions.
Does a complete bag check every half hour.
Make sure all paperwork is completed by the end of the shift. This includes downtime sheets updated during the shift.
Set up machine order specifications.
Do air cannon checks and jaw tests.
Knows how to read tickets and match with the dockets completely.
Handles jams and machine adjustments during the shift.
Complete roll changes in a timely fashion.
Complete sign offs on jobs at the start of the shift and after the changeover.
Must know where all power, air, and water cutoffs are located on the machines.
Top of scale operators should know both slitters and bag machines if applicable.
Responsible for reporting any issues to the lead or supervisor.
Must be able to keep the machine running and troubleshoot when there are issues.
Ensures that the rolls match the paperwork.
Reports any overrun or short orders.
Adhere to safety policies and procedures and all ProAmpac-Hartford Division policies and procedures as included in the employee handbook to ensure safety for self and fellow employees and to ensure behavior is appropriate in the workplace.
Perform job duties accurately so that other personnel and departments and ultimately customers receive correct information and/or product.
Maintain a customer focused perspective in all activities initiated to ensure that customer needs are successfully met.
Work effectively in a fast paced work environment with neighboring plant departments in a team atmosphere to develop multi-functional solutions.
Maintain good house-keeping practices throughout the areas.
May be assigned other duties plant wide as time allows.
Follow all applicable instructions relative to food safety and the SQF Food Safety Management System, including Employee GMP's.
Report food safety problems to personnel with the authority to initiate actions.
Regular lifting of product 10-12 lbs.
Occasional lifting of product 50-60 lbs.
Must have a good understanding of the machines in their assigned area.
Must have good understanding of all product properties of products produced in their assigned area.
Must have good people skills.
Must have a good working knowledge of the equipment, materials and supplies used in their assigned areas.
Must show good temperament attitude and judgment capabilities.
Walking, seeing and hearing.
Using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.
Push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Noise levels in this work environment require ear protection.
May periodically require the employee to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl.
May stand for long periods of time.
Able to work 10 hours on 2nd shift (3pm-1am)
Education and Experience Required:
High school diploma/GED equivalent
6 months' Co-ex setup experience in a similar industry with available professional references.
Demonstrated proficiency in all areas and success in roles of increasing responsibility in conversion manufacturing.
The Pouch Operator is responsible for setting up the pouch machine to convert rolls of printed or plain rolls of film into bags of varying sizes and shapes per customer specifications. Able to work 10 hours on 2nd shift.
