We are actively seeking a Maintenance Electrician to join our growing team. If you are a Maintenance Electrician looking for a new opportunity with a leading packaging company, ProAmpac is looking for you to join our team! In this role, you would primarily be responsible for responding to trouble calls on industrial equipment, such as, extruders, rewinders, printing presses, and bag machines, as well as support equipment like chillers, air compressors, stretch wrappers, etc.

  • A unique, rotating "4 on / 4 off” schedule (work 12 hour shifts 7am-7pm, 7pm-7am for 4 days, then get 4 days off) – only work for half the year!

Essential Duties and Tasks

  • Follow quality requirements to meet or exceed specifications.

  • Effectively communicate with employees from your own and other departments to ensure a team environment.

  • Understand and apply knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and machining.

  • Commitment, awareness and involvement pertaining to ISO (policy, standards, procedures, etc.) BRC and food safety practices (GMPs, procedures, etc.) are requirements of all employees.

  • Read technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams.

  • Document technical information through descriptive writing, sketches/diagrams, mathematical expression, computation, and graphs.

  • Perform mechanical and fluid measurements by properly selecting tools and test equipment.

  • Perform mechanical assembly, disassembly, repair, adjustment, or calibrate components by properly selecting tools and equipment and following procedures.

  • Understand the overall operation and control of machines.

  • Understand the basic fastening skills related to machine fabrication and assembly requirements.

  • Ability to fabricate and repair metal using MIG/TIG welder, shear, press brake, grinders, etc.

  • Proficient with rigging; able to set, align, and anchor production equipment.

  • Identify faulty equipment through observation and testing.

  • Operates metalworking machines, such as bench lathe, milling machine, punch press and drill press to fabricate housings, fittings, jigs and fixtures to verified dimensions.

  • Demonstrate persistence when dealing with complex problems.

  • Assess the condition of used parts using, micrometers, calipers, and specifications.

  • Source replacement parts and perform repairs.

  • Safely operate cranes, power tools, hoists, and hand tools.

  • Able to maintain good attitude.

  • Assist with LOTO written program and training.

  • Assist with building and grounds maintenance when needed.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Our ideal candidate would possess the following skills, qualifications, and abilities:

  • Journeyman Electrician or associate degree in electro-mechanical technology / related field.

  • Experience troubleshooting/repairing industrial equipment.

  • Understand and apply knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems.

  • Experience with various types of pumps, bearings, gearboxes, cylinders, alignment techniques, PLCs, etc.

  • Experience with web handling equipment.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability to work well with engineers, mechanics, machine operators, other electricians, and management.

  • Positive attitude.

  • Able to work overtime or be on-call during off hours.
