Job Description

The Quality Manager position, plans, coordinates, and directs the quality program for their assigned location to ensure quality control and quality assurance of the production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate Quality Team members.

Essential Duties and Tasks

  • Knows and follows all safety policies and procedures. Holds all crews accountable for working safely and ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures. Assists EHS Manager in investigations of incidents and near misses and conducts Root Cause Analysis (RCAs) to determine corrective actions. Develops new SOPs, if necessary, to support safety initiatives and trains personnel against new SOP.

  • Commitment, awareness and involvement pertaining to ISO (policy, standards, procedures, etc.) and food safety practices (GMPs, procedures, etc.) are requirements of all employees.

  • Formulates and maintains quality objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.

  • Interprets quality philosophy to key personnel in organization.

  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation.

  • Plans and oversees the analysis, inspection, design, test and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.

  • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.

  • Applies statistical process control methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.

  • Decides whether to accept a product or continue business with a vendor based on a review of quality data.

  • Reviews all data obtained during all quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures.

  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities.

  • Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.

  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team.

  • Demonstrates leadership ability: motivates employees to perform well; effectively influences actions and opinions of others; gives appropriate recognition to others;

  • Manages staff: includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement; takes responsibilities for subordinates activities; makes self available to staff; provides regular performance feedback; develops subordinates skills and encourage growth; fosters quality focus in others; improves processes, products and services.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards.

  • Designs and implements quality training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.

  • Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality.

  • Oversee food safety certifications.

  • Demonstrates appropriate attitude in all dealings with co workers, customers, and suppliers.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in technical area plus five years' experience in Quality/Manufacturing or ten years' relevant experience

  • Prior audit experience and knowledge of ISO 9001, GMP, GFSI

  • Strong data management skills preferred.

  • Demonstrated understanding of fact-based decision-making and analytical processes related to quality management and process improvement.

  • Effective coaching, training and facilitating experience
