Position Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day activities within the Shipping & Receiving department and is responsible for all inventory movement in the warehouse including loading and unloading trucks and supervising employees. Also responsible for facilitating an environment and culture focused on safety and continuous improvement; which will reflect the commitment to working towards a world class injury free workplace.

  • Direct, train, develop and coach all assigned employees to ensure their increasing job skills and complete understanding of their assigned duties

  • Coordinate incoming/outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments

  • Oversee and ensure required paperwork accompanies all incoming/outgoing shipments.

  • Work with managers outside the warehouse to ensure coordination of other functions such as production, inventory management and quality assurance

  • Develops standard operating procedures and performance standards

  • Manages inventory quality and accuracy

  • Coordinate physical inventory process and cycle counts

  • Develop stock location and order picking strategies to optimize workflow, space utilization, and labor productivity

  • Responsible for the physical custody and overall safeguarding of the inventory.

  • Ensures accurate data entry of all computer-generated paperwork according to department FBS Manual

  • Responsible for ensuring that all shipping/receiving processes having a direct effect on the quality of the product are evaluated through the Master Specification & Quality Plan to make certain that production controls exist to support the manufacture of the product to meet customer requirements prior to its initial manufacture

  • Conducts required forklift certification for all operators.

  • Match incoming freight with the proper purchase orders, generate pallet tags, and generate/distribute daily shipping logs in accordance with Quality System requirements. Includes preparation of purchasing & receiving forms.

  • Schedule trucks for outgoing freight. Includes preparation of bill of lading.

  • Coordinate special shipments with the Customer Service Department.

  • Ensure subordinates are trained and competent to comply with product quality and food safety requirements

  • Day-to-day compliance with quality, food safety and prerequisite programs

  • Manage hazardous waste

  • Assist in chemical drum handling along with hazardous and non-hazardous waste operations but not limited to transferring, labeling, securing, handling, documenting, transporting, training or helping with the overall reduction of waste

  • Resolve food safety concerns

  • Performs other duties as needed

Requirements

  • Experience working in a continuous improvement environment is required

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop individuals and teams

  • Trouble shooting/problem solving skills

  • Minimum 3 years’ warehouse management experience including inventory control procedures and inventory/ accounting relationships

  • Superior leadership, management, motivation and teamwork skills

  • Strong written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organization and time management skills and able to work under pressure

  • Working knowledge of carrier operations, shipment routing and distribution methods
