The Plant Engineer is responsible for providing maintenance and engineering services; providing information and serving as a resource to the Engineering Manager and others; achieving defined objectives by planning, evaluating, developing, implementing and maintaining equipment and services in compliance with established guidelines, codes, and regulations.

Essential Duties and Tasks

  • Provide engineering and construction management support for equipment purchases and installation which include specifications, design, cost estimates, schedules and installation supervision.

  • Provide engineering and construction management support on building additions and expansions.

  • Knows and follows all safety policies and procedures. Ensures that co-workers are also following safety rules.

  • Commitment, awareness and involvement pertaining to ISO (policy, standards, procedures, etc.) and food safety practices (GMPs, procedures, etc.) are requirements of all employees.

  • Apply engineering principles and practices to ensure facilities are designed, constructed, renovated and maintained in a safe, cost effective and timely manner.

  • Develop scope of services and project control to adhere to budgets, scope and schedule for contractors,

  • Responsible for maintenance programs, equipment reliability and budgets covering plant production and auxiliary equipment to include development, implementation and oversight of preventive/predictive maintenance program(s) to ensure maximum equipment availability and minimum equipment downtime

  • Demonstrates leadership ability; motivates employees to perform well; effectively influences actions and opinions of others; gives appropriate recognition to others.

  • Demonstrates appropriate attitude in all dealings with coworkers, customers, and suppliers.

  • All other duties as required

Work Environment

Work primarily in a climate controlled indoor environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Hearing protection, safety shoes and vision protection required.

This role operates in a professional office environment that requires some exposure to a manufacturing environment. Employee is rarely exposed to non-toxic/nuisance smells from chemicals, airborne dust, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels and hot/humid environmental conditions in the manufacturing area during extremely hot summer months.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands/fingers to type, hold, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience of 1+ years in related role and preferably in a production environment. Knowledge of maintaining Printing Press, Film Extrusion and Rewinding equipment preferred.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Visio, and Outlook email and calendar capabilities.

  • Proficient skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and AutoCAD.

  • Maintains strict confidentiality and protects privacy of confidential/sensitive information.

  • Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership as well as internal and external clients.

  • Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.
