Essential Duties and Tasks

To perform this job successfully, individual must be able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; good organizational, time management, customer service and problem-solving skills; ability to work accurately, with interruptions, to meet deadlines; ability to work well independently and as part of a team; ability to exercise flexibility, initiative, good judgment and discretion.

  • Perform quality inspections of materials in production to assure that they conform to the standards established in our Quality Management System (QMS) for our customers

  • Coordinate quality testing for both rollstock and converting departments

  • Coordinate and assign quality resources as needed to areas of concern as needed

  • Coordinate environmental testing

  • Perform on-floor audits related to paperwork and test procedures

  • Conduct verification of set-ups on equipment

  • Participate in establishing best practices for quality procedures, specifications, and test protocols

  • Responsible to prevent further processing of non-conforming materials

  • Collect and maintain samples from all phases of operations in an organized manner

  • Review production paperwork to ensure completeness and compliance to GDP

  • Conduct testing of raw materials to ensure they meet our internal quality standards

  • Conduct testing of non-conforming or other “on-hold” materials to determine suitability as directed

  • Conduct inspection of returned goods to determine disposition and disbursement for rework

  • Assist Quality Leader in maintaining calibration system

  • Conduct non-standard laboratory testing such as retained solvent (GC), barcode verification, autoclave as required

  • Authority to reject raw materials or work in process (WIP) not meeting specification

  • Perform Quality Leader duties as acting backup in the absence of the Quality Leader

  • Halt manufacturing processes and immediately notifying management of any safety, material, equipment or technical non-conformance.

  • Participate with co-workers and supervisors in addressing problem areas, planning methods and operating procedures.

  • Identify and record quality related problems, initiate action to prevent nonconformance, and recommend solutions.

  • Control the further processing of materials until any deficiency is corrected.

  • Comply with all ProAmpac Safety, Quality, Operational and Employment policies and practices.

  • Day to day compliance with food safety and prerequisite programs

  • Remove from operation any machine deemed unsafe and immediately notify management.

  • Adhere to all Quality principles as outlined in our Quality System to ensure efficient production of a quality product on a day to day basis.

  • Operate in a manner that will reduce waste and optimize usable production.

  • Follow all applicable instructions relative to food safety and the SQF Food Safety Management System, including Employee GMP’s.

  • Report food safety problems and concerns to personnel with the authority to initiate actions.

  • Perform other assignments as required by ProAmpac management

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED High level of mathematical and analytical skills

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Visio, Teams and Outlook

  • Knowledge of SQF and ISO 9001

  • Technical Aptitude

  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance Practices and Procedures

  • Ability to work with laboratory and testing equipment, collect data and facts, and present it in a meaningful manner

  • Knowledge of industry equipment preferred
